I grew up in a small southeastern Kentucky town called Hazard. In 1972, Sam Fugate started the Bible Baptist Church with just a handful of people. A few years later, I was reached through that ministry and started attending Sunday school at the age of 7. I remember instantly falling in love with the people of Bible Baptist and it wasn’t long before I fell in love with Jesus. I was taught that Jesus died on a cross for my sins and prepared a way for me to go to Heaven when I die. That sounded great but a little scary to a young girl who didn’t want to think about dying. As I grew up, I understood more and more of the Bible and embraced the teachings that I was exposed to as truth. Today, as an adult woman trying to love her husband, nurture my children, and support my friends, I can say without reservation that God is at the center of everything I do in life. He is my one, true, always-there friend and companion.
I love the Lord with all my heart, mind, soul, and strength. Failing Him everyday, I realize how incredible grace is and how necessary mercy is to our existence.
I am so grateful for the people God placed in my life who nurtured me in faith and helped me to grow spiritually.
